BELLEVUE, WA – The Second Amendment Foundation and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today applaud the U.S. Senate for confirming Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court, thus restoring the high court’s full complement, and maintaining a philosophical balance important to upholding and enforcing the U.S. Constitution.
Gorsuch was confirmed on a 54-45 vote just before noon Friday.
“Judge Gorsuch demonstrated during two days of hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee that he is eminently qualified to occupy the seat left vacant by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia last year,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “The court has been shy one critical vote and voice for more than a year. We are delight that time has come to an end.”
“President Trump kept his word to voters,” Gottlieb concluded, “by nominating a superb jurist with an originalist approach to interpreting the Constitution, and particularly the Bill of Rights, as the Founders intended.”
