SAF SEEKS MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER

JOB TITLE: Major Gifts Officer
DEPARTMENT: Development

SUMMARY:

For more than 50 years, the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has been fighting to defend, restore, and expand your Second Amendment rights. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, SAF is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to manage and secure funding from individuals across the country. The Major Gifts Officer will report to the Senior Vice President/Vice President of Development, while also playing key roles with staff, the Board of Trustees, contractors and outside groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the Vice President of Development in identifying, qualifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts
  • Work with the Senior Vice President/Vice President of Development to establish and monitor key metrics to make effective and accurate forecasts and evaluate and manage ongoing performance, ensuring the department will meet and exceed annual fundraising goals
  • Work collaboratively with the Organization’s departments to position opportunities and integrate messages in communications, articles, publications, grant submissions, reports, and collateral materials
  • Develop new fundraising opportunities for SAF
  • Create giving programs that maintain a culture for safe philanthropic giving
  • Work with the staff and Board of Trustees to identify high value giving opportunities
  • Develop relationships to bring new ideas and opportunities to SAF
  • Meet annual fundraising goals, as agreed upon with the Executive Director and Senior Vice President
  • Produce quarterly, yearly and 3-year financial goals and reports
  • Represent the organization in a professional manner, while also adhering to internal policies and direction

The ideal candidates will have a minimum of five years of fundraising or related experience with an emphasis on personal major gift solicitation. Additional qualifications include:

  • Be authorized to work in the United States
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Be able to legally own and possess a firearm and ammunition
  • A bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, business development or of the like
  • 5+ years of experience in the fundraising and/or sales sector – nonprofit experience is preferred
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising and generating large philanthropic donations
  • Knowledge of how nonprofits operate
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Be able to work with a remote team
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance and be able to provide the organization with proof of insurance
  • Have a substantial working knowledge of nonprofit fundraising standards and requirements
  • Passionate about the Second Amendment

Successful candidates will be self-starters who can work independently as well as part of a team and are driven to succeed. Familiarity with planned giving, digital fundraising, corporate giving, and already established relationships within the Second Amendment community are desired. The selected candidates must have the ability to travel when assigned or appropriate.

LOCATION: Remote
